Grinding it
I decided that this year I will learn how to play cash games ;) I made myself an excel sheet where I set myself some initial bankroll requirements for different cash game/buyin levels. And I made some goal that how much do I have to be able to win per level before I can move on to the next level. And... Have I been able to get anywhere? Not really :(
It seems to me that it is more or less impossible to push out players from the pot even when they don't really have any decent odds for calling your bet/raise. And what's the end result because of that? Yes. You guessed right. You get beaten frequently with some gut shot straight draws when you have a set after the flop or some idiot calls your 6 * BB raise before the flop with some 27 offsuit and because of some freak act of God gets lucky and wins with a flush or something as propable.
Anyway. It's not all bad. So far I've managed to grind few levels and ended up with a positive results even though not as much as I had set as my goal. In the mean time though I have managed to lose more than necessary while learning to play Omaha Hi. I also accidentally took part in an Omaha Hi-Lo tournament for 22$ and I guess I don't even have to say how that experiment ended up.
Now. I have to concentrate on the 6$ NL Holdem tournament I just started at Party. Wish me luck!
